Reading in Progress
On my Kindle I have a folder containing books I am reading or would like to read when I have a chance. Currently, there are eight books in it and I am sure I will not finish them all before the end of the year. The plan is to continue with them on 2012 and see if they get read. I am enjoying some of them and others I do not even know what they are about.
As the year moves ahead, I will let you know how it goes. They are listed below in the order I will be reading them.
State of Wonder by Ann Patchett (audiobook): 8 out of 12 sections completed
“Dr. Marina Singh, a research scientist with a Minnesota pharmaceutical company, is sent to Brazil to track down her former mentor, Dr. Annick Swenson, who seems to have all but disappeared in the Amazon while working on what is destined to be an extremely valuable new drug, the development of which has already cost the company a fortune. Nothing about Marina’s assignment is easy: not only does no one know where Dr. Swenson is, but the last person who was sent to find her, Marina’s research partner Anders Eckman, died before he could complete his mission. Plagued by trepidation, Marina embarks on an odyssey into the insect-infested jungle in hopes of finding her former mentor as well as answers to several troubling questions about her friend’s death, the state of her company’s future, and her own past.”
An Apple for Zoe by Thomas Amo: 63% completed
“The City of San Francisco is locked in a grip of fear. A series of occult murders has led, Inspector Thomas James, to a crime scene similar to a murder committed 90 years ago in the once grand Aleris Hotel. A place where power barons of the early 20th Century engaged in witchcraft. And silent film stars indulged in the most wicked of sins.”
‘Sembrando Palabras y Cosechando Cuentos’ (compilation):17% completed
“Una muestra de la nueva literatura puertorriqueña.”
The Noon God by Donna Carrick
“Living in the shadow of greatness can be a difficult thing. Just ask Desdemona. When her father, the magnificent J. Caesar Fortune, is found murdered inside the offices of the Faculty of Art, there is no shortage of people who carried a grudge against him.”
Mother’s Helper by Lisamarie Lamb
“A woman is plagued by nightmares and soon begins to sleepwalk during which time she is chased by an unknown and invisible predator. She also begins to see visions, which start to make sense of her life, but which she can’t bring herself to believe. How can she save herself, and the world, when she doesn’t believe the danger is real?”
PS. I just realized I have seven other books awaiting for me here

A First Time #NaNoWriMo Winner!
Today is the last day of #NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Some writers still crunching the last of their 50,000 words before the last struck of the clock. Fortunately, I completed my novel, The EVE Project, November 26th giving me four days to spare.
I should say, the first manuscript of my novel. The next couple of months will be for editing, re-writing, testing and everything else necessary to polish my book and get it ready for publishing. I am hoping to start query publishers around late February.
If you want to follow the novel’s development, excerpts and get all the goodies first hand, please feel free to circle The EVE Projects page at Goggle + (https://plus.google.com/b/103439693733745902781/103439693733745902781).
Here is the latest excerpt and working cover, enjoy!
She chose a simple black bottom-up shirt and a pair of matching slacks
she bought especially for the occasion. She remembers how much he liked to see her all dressed in black. He always told her she was as divine as the night. Her clothes matched perfectly with her lace lingerie and her tall black boots she wore covered by her wide pant legs. She sat at the bedroom vanity and fixed her hair in a high pony tale, allowing her long black hair to curve on her back.
When she was applying her make up, Phillip walked in. “I cannot believe I fell asleep so quickly. I was just sitting there waiting for you” he said. “I am sorry” she answered, you caused quite an impression in Clarisse when you walked by” she continued. “I imagined” he said smiling and continued trying to fix his hair with his hands.
“You do not need makeup” he said touching her check and kissing her neck softly. “But you do” she reply with a big smile on her face. “I cannot even remember the last time I did that” he said, but before he was able to continue she stood up and started applying her black eye liner on the bottom of his eye. “Stop moving” she told him, but Phillip continued to kid around with her. He sat on the edge of the bed and put her in his lap. He kissed her and pressed her closed to him pulling her back in bed over him. He was able to smell her fresh applied perfume and was transported to the day they met alone for the first time. She was wearing a short black dress revealing her long and tone legs. In an instant he knew she will be the one stealing his heart.

On the other hand, I need to accept I slacked on the fitness challenge. I skipped several days, but I tried to exercise at least three times a week. During the editing period I am going to continue with the fitness challenge, just to keep my sanity.
Thanks for all the encouragement!
